Con Expo/Con-Ag 2008

Cummins Turbo Technologies joined the Cummins exhibition stand at the ConExpo/Con-Agg show, which was held in Las Vegas 11-15 March 2008.

This is an international event for construction, construction materials and power transmission industry leaders. The show is held every three years and gives exhibitors the opportunity to unveil their latest equipment, products, services and technologies.

Cummins Turbo Technologies showcased their Holset HX35W and HE351Ve turbochargers at the show alongside Cummins latest Tier 4 technology displayed on the QSB6.7 engine. Turbocharger booth attendants were Tim Eady; Marketing Co-ordinator, John Partridge; Application Engineer and Richard Wilson; Account Manager.

One of the event highlights was a visit to the Cummins booth by a team of high school senior aspiring engineers from Sulphur Springs in Texas. The students were accompanied by their teacher, Harold Smithson to participate in ‘Destination Imagination’ programmes to learn creative problem solving and further their personal growth. The future engineers chose to follow the ‘Construction Challenge’ route via regional competitions and qualified for the national final held at ConExpo/Con-Agg 2008 (see www.constructionchallenge.org) where they finished 28th out of 51 teams.

Cummins was involved as a team sponsor, led by Ric Kleine; Vice President Off-Highway Business and Clint Schroer; Off-Highway Communications Manager. When the team visited the Cummins booth their enthusiasm for engineering was plain to see and they found much to reinforce their chosen interest. They were particularly excited by the Cummins Turbo Technologies display and were intrigued by the workings of the Holset VGT. The students left with a message that the world of engineering and particularly the world of Cummins, is an exciting place waiting for them to explore.
